Research Associate (m/f/o)

• Research novel methods of acoustic communication in metals as part of the SANMET project
• Identify requirements and develop an overall concept for the project
• Design hardware and set up/commission a software-defined acoustic laboratory demonstrator
• Systematically investigate main factors influencing transmission properties in metal structures
• Design and scientifically investigate various modulation methods
• Conduct experiments using simulation, in the laboratory and under real conditions
• Present results at international conferences
• Supervise undergraduate assistants (opportunity to gain experience managing staff)

• Completed university degree in a scientific subject, preferably electrical engineering, computer science or comparable field
• In-depth knowledge of wireless communication (radio or acoustic)
• Experience programming embedded systems (microcontroller programming in C/C++)
• Understanding of hardware design using integrated circuits and circuit board design
• Good presentation and communication skills
• Proficiency in written and spoken German (at least B2)
• Ability and willingness to work as part of a team
• High degree of reliability and willingness for ongoing professional/personal development
• Experience of project management and versioning systems (Git) and hardware/software documentation (Doxygen, Javadoc or similar) is desirable
• Knowledge about propagation and characteristics of acoustic waves is an advantage
