Tasks

  • BA Wind is responsible for the development, construction and operation of wind power onshore and offshore as well as other non-hydro renewable activities like solar and batteries. We manage the maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of wind generation assets, safely and with the highest levels of availability and profitability. We also perform the structuring and execution of project partnerships in accordance with overall wind strategy.

  • We are looking for a WTG Project Engineer to be part of the WTG Project Engineering team within our Business Area Wind, Offshore, Project Delivery & Engineering.
  • The Engineering department is the technical know-how centre within Business Area Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects, both through the development and implementation phase as well as in operations.
  • Working within the WTG Engineering Department in Offshore Project Delivery & Engineering, the role of the WTG Project Engineer will work with a variety of stakeholders in the development, contracting and/or delivery phases of offshore wind farms.
  • Your main responsibilities as Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) Project Engineer:
  • As part of the WTG Project Engineering team you will be assigned to offshore wind projects across our international offshore pipeline focusing on technical as well as on commercial aspects. Typical tasks and scopes include:
  • Support the WTG Product/Package Managers with technical know-how and project management tasks;
  • Coordinate and provide technical and commercial inputs to early development projects in business cases and tender material as well as internal governance reviews;
  • Anchoring WTG products in the business case of development projects in order to drive LCOE reduction targets;
  • Engage with suppliers on technical level and ensure alignment with internal stakeholders in coordination with the Product/Package Managers/Product Portfolio Director;
  • Contribute to a maintained and up to date overview of ongoing WTG product development;
  • Manage and drive deviation handling of requirements, incl. evaluation of cost and risk impact;
  • Support the contract negotiations with WTG suppliers and ensure that our technical and other requirements are incorporated into the finalised WTG supply contract;
  • Interface coordination with foundation and other packages such as inner-array cable, substation, grid etc;
  • Set-up and coordination of product quality processes and activities throughout the WTG supply chain and in close cooperation with Quality Management;
  • Management of contract responsibilities and duties and communication with suppliers;
  • Review of technical reports, quality assurance documentation and manufacturing procedures;
  • Facilitate the process of bringing the assets into our operating portfolio;
  • Support and contribute to the exchange of learnings and improvements for example by transporting learnings from delivery projects or operating assets back into Development and Generation;
  • Prepare and update key technology and process documents;
  • Engage in assignments in product development, project delivery or operational assets, as required;
  • Actively contributing to our Health and Safety culture.

Hard skills

  • Your profile as WTG Project Engineer:
  • Project Management background and preferably an engineering or economic university degree (M.Eng. or equivalent) with profound relevant work experience within wind or energy;
  • Experience and ability in managing complexity and uncertainty;
  • Passion for technical project management and experience in communication with customers/suppliers;
  • Good contractual & commercial understanding (e.g. FIDIC or similar);
  • Meet challenges optimistically but realistically and come up with new and innovative ideas;
  • Clear and open communicator with a positive attitude;
  • Good interpersonal skills, actively engage stakeholders and are at home in the team environment;
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills are required mandatory;
  • High degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work;
  • Results-oriented and you organise and prioritise your work effectively in order to meet required deadlines.
